Universal posted the news on its Facebook page, writing, “Our crew will face its greatest adversary ever in our next film as we welcome Charlize Theron to the Fast family. 4.14.17 #F8. There had previously been reports that the South African-born actress would star in the film, but the deal has now been closed. Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson are set to return for the eighth film in the franchise, with F. Gary Gray directing. It is set for an April 14, 2017 release. TheWrap reported Wednesday that “Game of Thrones” actor Kristofer Hivju joined the cast of “Fast 8” as well, to play one of Theron’s henchmen.
