Foreign Minister talks relations with Russia, Karabakh violence

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian-Russian relations are not just of a business or allied nature, they are also based on a legal basis; everybody, including Azerbaijan, is aware of this, Armenia’s Foreign Minister said in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia.

“It is not Azerbaijan that hosts a Russian military base; Azerbaijan is not a CSTO member and it certainly doesn’t have dozens of agreements in defense, military, and industrial sectors with Russia, as Armenia does,” Edward Nalbandian said. “It wasn’t Azerbaijan that signed the fifth protocol with Russia. This is not the entire list.”

Referring to the neutral stance adopted by some of EEU member states over the conflict escalation, Nalbandian noted that Armenia will raise the issue in the upcoming Yerevan-hosted CSTO Summit of the Foreign Ministers.

“CSTO Summits and Ministerial Councils have issued a number of statements on the position of the CSTO member states on the conflict settlement, supporting the Minsk Group Co-chairs’ efforts and peaceful resolution of the conflict,” Nalbandian said.

Also, the minister said that the process of unveiling the atrocities committed by Azerbaijan to the international community and placing them in a legal dimension has started.

“Today we submitted the facts and a corresponding letter to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The process will certainly continue,” the minister noted.
