Ridley Scott's “Blade Runner” sequel moved to 2017 April 21, 2016 - 10:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The untitled Blade Runner project will now arrive within 2017 calendar. Warner Brothers and Alcon Entertainment announced in a press release on Wednesday, April 20 that the sci-fi pic's release date had been moved up to October 6, 2017, AceShowbiz reports. The sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 film previously held the January 12, 2018 slot. It was an odd choice to put a film of such genre during Martin Luther King Jr.'s weekend. The new date is considerably more fitting but not exactly favorable. It is now set to open against an untitled WB event film as well as an untitled Fox/Marvel film. There's a chance that Marvel secured that October 6, 2017 date for its "X-Men" spin-off "Gambit (2017)", though there is yet an official announcement. The rest of the month was filled with Universal's drama "The Snowman" and WB's crime drama "Live by Night", so there is no competition in genre. The second "Blade Runner" film stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista. "Sicario" helmer Denis Villeneuve is directing and principal photography is set to begin this July.
