New “Southside With You” trailer shows the Obamas’ first date

PanARMENIAN.Net - Set to Janet Jackson‘s 1989 hit “Miss You Much,” the first official trailer for “Southside With You” offers a look at the human side of a young Barack Obama and Michelle — then Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.

Parker Sawyers proves a strong resemblance in silhouette and mannerism to the President — especially in a scene where he pulls up in his car to pick up Michelle (Tika Sumpter) for their date.

The film retraces the first date of the future president and first lady as they traverse the southside of Chicago — thus the name of the film, TheWrap said.

The docudrama indie, written and directed by Richard Tanne and distributed by Roadside and Miramax, has earned a lot of goodwill from critics, with a current Rotten Tomatoes score of 88 percent.
