John Krasinski lands title role in Amazon's “Jack Ryan”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Meet the new Jack Ryan! John Krasinski has landed the title role on Amazon's upcoming series based on Tom Clancy's novels, taking on the mantle that was last assumed by Chris Pine in Kenneth Branagh-directed "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit", AceShowbiz reports.

Co-created by "Lost" vets Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland, the "Jack Ryan" series will not be a direct adaptation of Clancy's books, but has been billed as a contemporary take on the character in his prime as a CIA analyst/operative using the novels as source material. In the novels, Ryan trades his career as an investment broker for a job as a CIA operative before eventually becoming President of the United States.

While the project was initially developed with the intention to go straight to series, it has yet to receive a series order, Deadline notes. The casting of Krasinski will likely help the project score a series order.

For Krasinski, the "Jack Ryan" series will mark his first major TV role since his "The Office" stint ended in 2013. He has been focused on features in the past few years, most recently starring in Michael Bay's "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi".
