PanARMENIAN.Net - The first trailer for Disney's "Queen of Katwe" has been released online for viewing pleasure. Starring Lupita Nyong'o, David Oyelowo and newcomer Madina Nalwanga, the movie centers on Phiona Mutesi, a young Ugandan chess prodigy, AceShowbiz said.

Lupita plays Phiona's mother Harriet Mutesi, while David stars as Robert Katende, a missionary who teaches local children how to play chess. After seeing Phiona (Madina)'s potential, Robert mentors her to become a chess world champion, despite her family's impoverished circumstances.

Lupita tells EW that working with the children in "Queen of Katwe" was easier than she expected it to be. "It opened my heart and made me a better actress," the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actress shares, "I have so much love and admiration for the children. They all shine in this film."

Lupita previously expressed her thought about Ugandan culture, "There is an ease in the Ugandan demeanor that is very welcoming. I love the melody of the accent, the food, the music and the people's inherent style. There was a familiarity with my home country being right next door but also complete surprise in what was so different."

"There is a resilience of spirit in Uganda. The slum of Katwe is a very difficult place to live, but you see these people living there with dignity," she continued, "To go there and to have that environment to work from really did give life and meaning to our work. It was research, obstacle and inspiration."

"Queen of Katwe", directed by Mira Nair based on Tim Crother's book "The Queen of Katwe: A Story of Life, Chess, and One Extraordinary Girl's Dream of Becoming a Grandmaster", opens in set for limited release in the U.S. on September 23.
