“Lethal Weapon”, “The Exorcist” TV adaptations get series orders at FOX

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Lethal Weapon" and "The Exorcist" are among FOX's line-up of 2016-2017 programmings. The TV adaptations of two successful movie franchises along with two other dramas "A.P.B." and "Pitch" and comedies "Making History" and "The Mick" have been picked up to series by the network, AceShowbiz reports.

"Lethal Weapon", based on the 1987 buddy cop action film starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, follows Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (Clayne Crawford), who suffers the loss of his wife and baby, as he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans Jr.), who, having recently suffered a "minor" heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life. Keesha Sharp, Jordana Brewster and Kevin Rahm also star, while Matt Miller will write and executive produce with Dan Lin, Jennifer Gwartz and McG.

"The Exorcist" TV series is dubbed as modern reinvention of the original 1971 book by William Blatty. The psychological thriller centers on two very different men tackling one family's case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil. Geena Davis, Brianne Howey, Hannah Kasulka, Kurt Egyiawan, Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels and Alan Ruck are starring. Jeremy Slater will write and executive produce with James Robinson, Rolin Jones, David Robinson, Barbara Wall and Rupert Wyatt.

"A.P.B." revolves around a tech billionaire (Justin Kirk) who purchases a troubled police precinct in the wake of a loved one's murder. But can this eccentric and enigmatic figure's cutting-edge approach fix the broken ways of these blue-blooded veterans? Natalie Martinez, Caitlin Stasey, Taylor Handley, Eric Winter, Ernie Hudson and Tamberla Perry will also star. Matt Nix is on board as showrunner and will executive produce along with Len Wiseman, Dennis Kim, Todd Hoffman and Robert Friedman. The drama is said to be likely held for a midseason premiere.

"Pitch", hailed from Dan Fogelman and Rick Singer, centers on young pitcher Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury), a beautiful, tough and incredibly gifted athlete who instantly becomes the most famous person in the country when she's called up by the San Diego Padres, making her the first woman to play Major League Baseball.

"Making History" is a single-camera comedy about three friends from two different centuries who try to balance the thrill of time travel with the mundane concerns of their present-day lives. Adam Pally, Leighton Meester and Yassir Lester will star, with Julius Sharpe writing and executive producing. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Seth Cohen and Jared Hess also executive produce it.

"The Mick", also a single-camera comedy, centers on the title character (Kaitlin Olson) who is described as a brash, blue collar, two-bit hustler who has spent her entire life gaming the system and shirking any semblance of responsibility. When her estranged sister and billionaire brother-in-law flee the country to escape federal charges, she moves to affluent Greenwich, Conn., to raise the spoiled kids of her sister. John Chernin and Dave Chernin will write and executive produce with Nick Frenkel, Oly Obst and Randall Einhorn.

FOX previously ordered "24: Legacy" and "Star" to series.
