"Sons of Anarchy" hit TV series spin-off in the works at FX

PanARMENIAN.Net - After being teased several times, a "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off is officially in the works at FX. The project titled "Mayans MC" has moved forward with Elgin James writing the pilot. James will also be credited as co-creator along with "SOA" series creator Kurt Sutter, AceShowbiz reports.

The spin-off will center on The Mayans, the biker gang led by president Marcus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) who were the main antagonists during the first two seasons of the motherhood series. The network describes the potential new series as "a dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1% outlaw, this time, reflected through a Latino lens."

"I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice," Sutter said of hiring James. "Because I didn't think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice."

Sutter also took to Twitter to thank those who have been supporting the project. "Getting closer & closer. Appreciate the support on this project!" he tweeted on Wednesday, May 11.
