A24 acquires Andrew Garfield crime thriller “Under the Silver Lake”May 12, 2016 - 15:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A24 has acquired U.S. rights to David Robert Mitchell’s crime thriller “Under the Silver Lake”, starring Andrew Garfield, Variety said. Mitchell is set to direct from his own script with the story taking place in modern-day Los Angeles. The project is Mitchell’s follow-up to his horror thriller “It Follows.” Production is set to start end of summer. Insiders is handling international distribution and selling the film at the Cannes Film Festival. Michael De Luca, producer of the “50 Shades of Grey” trilogy, is producing under his Michael De Luca Productions banner. Chris Bender, Jake Weiner and Adele Romanski are producing as well. Lucy Kitada is overseeing for Michael De Luca Productions. “It Follows,” which premiered in 2014 at the Cannes Film Festival, grossed over $20 million worldwide. Mitchell’s first feature, “The Myth of the American Sleepover,” premiered at the SXSW Film Festival, winning a Special Jury Prize, and premiered internationally at Cannes Critics’ Week.
