Courtney Love, Joey King to star in “The Possibility of Fireflies”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Courtney Love and Joey King will star as a mother-daughter pair in the coming-of-age story The Possibility of Fireflies, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Deborah Chow (The High Cost of Living) will direct from a script by Dominique Paul, who adapted her own YA novel of the same name.

Set in the summer of 1989 in suburban Maryland, The Possibility of Fireflies centers on Ellie Roma (King), a teen who dreams of becoming a writer and must deal with her self destructive mother Susanna (Love) and her volatile metal-head sister. When Ellie falls in love with her older neighbor, an aspiring singer, she finds herself caught in the alluring undertow of a reckless rock n’ roll freedom.

“We’re so thrilled to secure such an incredibly talented duo in Joey King and Courtney Love to lead this cast,” says a statement from Chow. “Joey has proven herself to be one of the most talented young actresses working today, and as an iconic rock musician, who is also a versatile and fearless actress, Courtney is the perfect fit for this music-infused story,”

Canadian musicians Raine Maida and Chantal Kreviazuk will team up with Grammy Nominated artist, music producer and composer BT, to spearhead the 80’s-themed soundtrack for the film.

Amy Green, Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida of ARC49 Entertainment are producing. Patrick Ewald and Shaked Berenson, CEO and Co-Founder of Epic Pictures, are selling the film internationally and UTA Independent Film Group will represent domestically. Production is slated for summer 2016 in Canada.

Love is known for her music career, but has acted in several TV shows including recent stints on Empire and Revenge. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in The People Vs. Larry Flynt, and her other film credits include Sid and Nancy and Man on the Moon.

King is a rising star who starred in Ramona and Beezus, White House Down and Wish You Were Here. She will next be seen in sequel Independence Day: Resurgence, opening this Summer.
