Broad Green buys Tommy Lee Jones, Morgan Freeman's “Villa Capri”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Broad Green has finalized a deal for U.S. rights to Ron Shelton’s action-comedy “Villa Capri", starring Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones, Variety reports.

Braod Green will also co-produce the film with Entertainment One (eOne), Billy Gerber and Endurance’s Steve Richards. John Mass and Alan Simpson are executive producers on the film.

The movie will be released nationwide just ahead of the Labor Day weekend on Aug. 25, 2017 and is slated to begin principal photography in New Mexico this summer.

Jones plays an ex-FBI agent and Freeman portrays an ex-mob lawyer in the witness protection program. They have to put aside their petty rivalry on the golf course to fend off a mob hit.

The film is being financed by eOne and Endurance Media. eOne will directly distribute the action comedy in Canada, the UK, Australia/New Zealand, Benelux and Spain.

Sierra/Affinity is handling foreign sales for the remaining international rights at Cannes.

Broad Green used the same pre-Labor Day weekend release last year for its first wide opening with Robert Redford-Nick Nolte comedy “A Walk in the Woods,” which grossed nearly $30 million domestically.
