“Goosebumps” helmer to take on “Dungeons and Dragons” reboot

PanARMENIAN.Net - Rob Letterman is set to direct "Dungeons & Dragons" reboot for Warner Bros., AceShowbiz reports citing Variety. Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis, Sweetpea Entertainment's Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman, as well as Roy Lee will produce. David Leslie Johnson ("Wrath of Titans") has written a script for the film.

The Tracking Board broke the news in April that Rob was being eyed for the project, but insiders told Variety that others were still meeting and no formal offer had been given. Sources now reveal that the "Goosebumps" director secured the job after his recent presentation to WB execs.

Rob has been the frontrunner to helm "Dungeons & Dragons" reboot for several weeks, but WB wanted to see his presentation about his vision for the franchise first. An official offer is now on the table following his successful presentation.

The 2001 version of "Dungeons & Dragons", starring Jeremy Irons, Thora Birch, Bruce Payne and Marlon Wayans, was underwhelmed at the box office.

The remake project endured some major hit points when the film rights were caught up in a legal battle. In August 2015, WB, Hasbro's Allspark Pictures and Sweetpea Entertainment settled an undisclosed agreement to end the lawsuit over the film rights.
