Robert Downey Jr.’s “Sherlock Holmes 3” may start filming this fall

PanARMENIAN.Net - Last month, Robert Downey Jr. surprised fans when he said he still planned on doing "Sherlock Holmes 3". While promoting "Captain America: Civil War", the actor revealed that production on the delayed movie would likely begin this fall with Guy Ritchie back at the helm, AceShowbiz reports.

No official confirmation has been made so far, but producer Joel Silver only added fuel to the fire when he recently spoke with Collider. Silver, originally promoting "The Nice Guys" in an interview with the publication, supported Downey claim and also hinted that more "Sherlock Holmes" movies may arrive in the future.

"It looks like it could happen this fall. Downey said he wants to do it," he said. "He's gotta launch into another 'Avengers' movie right after the new year. So we're trying to get it done. We have a script that we like. [Jude Law] is available and Downey is available, and we're hoping we can get it done. If it works, great. If not, we'll do it another time. But it looks like it could happen now."

Downey, Law and Ritchie's respective schedules have been one big problem that keeps "Sherlock Holmes 3" from happening. Downey has been busy with his role as Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man in Marvel's movies while Law and director Ritchie are working on "Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur".

Despite the difficulties to reunite Downey with Law and Ritchie, Silver hoped that "Sherlock 3" wouldn't be the last film in the franchise. "I hope [it's not the last one]. I don't think so," he told Collider. "How many Bond films have they made? As long as there's a character, we can work with it. It's not an end story."

"We can keep going, as long as people want to do it. It's [the actor's] call. They have to say, 'Okay, I'm ready to go.' I read about them making another 'Bad Boys'. If they want to do it, then you try to get it done," he added.
