Oscilloscope nabs Cannes Critics’ Week winner “One Week and a Day”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired U.S. rights to Israeli-American writer-director Asaph Polonsky’s debut feature film, “One Week and a Day”, following its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Variety reports.

The film won the GAN Foundation Award in the Critics’ Week competition and an award from the French cinema owners association AFCAE. Oscilloscope will release the film in theaters followed by a release on other platforms.

“One Week and a Day” centers on a couple trying to return to their daily routine on the day following a week of mourning their late son.

Polonsky said, “I’ve been a fan of Oscilloscope Laboratories since I saw ‘Awesome; I Fuckin’ Shot That!’ as an audience member. Anytime I’d see the logo of the Lab, I’d get excited, knowing I was in good hands. Now, as a filmmaker, joining Oscilloscope, those feelings continue.”

The film was produced by Saar Yogev and Naomi Levari, who said, “For us, Oscilloscope stands for special and original quality films that reach out to a wide and versatile audience.”

Jan Naszewski from New Europe Film Sales, who brokered the deal said, “We are thrilled to connect Asaph to Oscilloscope — a label know for great taste and passion for discoveries. We hope for a great result and long-term relationship with the company.”

Ben Kenigsberg called the film a “creditable debut” for Polonsky in his review for Variety.
