“Limitless” TV series canceled by CBS after one season

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Limitless" has reached its end. After making the show's fans dread the fate of the series, CBS has officially canceled the freshman drama. The network made the decision quite late, having announced its fall 2016-2017 schedule at its upfronts last week, AceShowbiz reports.

CBS TV Studios had been quietly shopping the series, which is based on the 2011 movie of the same title starring Bradley Cooper, when it seemed that the show was not going to be renewed by CBS. CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller said on Wednesday, May 18 when asked about the fate of the series, "Right now we are in discussions with other buyers."

According to sources, the show was offered to Amazon and Netflix, but both streaming services have apparently passed on picking up the show for a second season. Showrunner Craig Sweeny has confirmed that the show's over, tweeting on May 25, "I'm truly sad to report #Limitless will not continue on any platform. Thanks so much to everyone who watched."

The freshman drama averaged a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49 when DVR numbers are factored in, but it only scored a 1.4 rating in the coveted demo in its live-plus-same-day stats, behind its Tuesday night counterparts "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" (2.2) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (1.8). The two procedural series will return with new series "Bull" on Tuesday nights in the fall.
