ASUS rolls out family friendly household assistant bot Zenbo

PanARMENIAN.Net - Alongside ASUS' mammoth release of third-generation products on May 30, there was also a surprise announcement — a home robot, Digital Spy said.

Billed as a family friendly household assistant bot, Zenbo is able to move independently around the house, recognize faces, search the web, control by voice command, take photos and do pretty much everything else you would expect, Digital Spy said.

While revealing the robot, ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih said: "For decades, humans have dreamed of owning such a companion: one that is smart, dear to our hearts, and always at our disposal. Our ambition is to enable robotic computing for every household."

As the promo video shows, the most intriguing aspect of Zenbo's capabilities is the link-up potential with other smart devices.

The company is also promoting a Zenbo developer program, with access to the bot's software development kit and more information to help birth apps — something which should prove vital if it is to be a success.

The 21st century butler will be available for $599.

The release date for the beginning of the robot takeover is not yet available, though.
