Stephen King’s “It” casts Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the Clown

PanARMENIAN.Net - “Hemlock Grove” actor Bill Skarsgard is in final negotiations to play the iconic villain Pennywise the Clown in Stephen King‘s “It” adaptation, TheWrap has learned.

The horror picture cast already includes Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor.

Skarsgard is the son of Stellan Skarsgard and younger brother of Alexander Skarsgard. He most recently starred in “Allegiant.” He will also star in the final “Divergent” film, “Ascendant.”

“Mama” director Andy Muschietti is helming the adaptation, with Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg producing.

In May 2015, Cary Fukunaga exited the project as the film’s director after repeatedly clashing with the studio, stalling production. Last month, Warner Bros. announced it will release “It” on Sept. 8, 2017.

“We’re the Millers” star Will Poulter had been in negotiations to star in “It” as the shape-shifting child murderer who terrorizes the town of Derry, Maine, where a ragtag group of kids come together to battle him as well as their own demons.

Tim Curry famously portrayed Pennywise in the 1990 TV adaptation of King’s popular novel.
