Anthony Hopkins officially joins “Transformers: The Last Knight”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sir Anthony Hopkins has been cast in “Transformers: The Last Knight”, TheWrap reports.

“The man, the myth, the legend – help us welcome Sir Anthony Hopkins to the #transformers universe,” the filmmakers tweeted from the “Transformers” Twitter account.

Hopkins won the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the brilliant serial killer Hannibal Lecter in “Silence of the Lambs.” He was also nominated for his roles in “Nixon,” “Amistad,” and “The Remains of the Day.”

Recently, Hopkins entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Thor’s father Odin in both “Thor” standalone films. He will reprise the role for the upcoming “Thor: Ragnarok.”

Mark Wahlberg is set to return for “Last Knight,” with newcomers Isabela Moner and comedian Jerrod Carmichael joining the action-packed sequel. Josh Duhamel will also reprise his role as Lieutenant Colonel Lennox.

“Transformers: The Last Knight” boasts the involvement of executive producer Steven Spielberg as well as a litany of writers including Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto will produce the sequel with Hasbro and Paramount.

Since the first “Transformers” movie premiered back in 2009, the franchise has gone on to gross over $1.3 billion globally.
