Marvel's “Scarlet” live-action series in the works

PanARMENIAN.Net - Marvel/Icon's "Scarlet" is headed to television. Cinemax is reportedly in the early stages of developing a live-action series based on the comic book co-created by "Marvel's Jessica Jones" creator Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, AceShowbiz said.

Brian let the news slip on Friday, June 10 at the ATX Television Festival in Austin. He revealed that the property was being developed as a series at HBO. "I do a book called 'Scarlet' which is soon to be announced also in our universe of television. Not announced yet, but HBO," he said, adding that the project was "at the earliest stage," but that "the team around it...will be announced as soon as all are on the same page."

Deadline clarifies that the "Marvel's Scarlet" project indeed is in development but at HBO's sibling, Cinemax.

"Scarlet" tells a story about a rebellious young Portland, Oregon woman named Scarlet Rue who rebels against a corrupt society and ends up starting a new American revolution in the process.

Brian explained, " 'Scarlet' is a list of things you can't get made. Here's a female lead who's killing cops because her world is broken. When it was sold, it was sold to people who were actively looking for that, so that put us in a good place. So stay tuned."
