Arts Alliance nabs “Revolution — New Art for a New World” docJune 11, 2016 - 12:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Arts Alliance has acquired Margy Kinmonth’s feature documentary “Revolution — New Art for a New World”, and will handle worldwide sales. The pic looks at the artists of the Russian Avant-Garde, such as Chagall, Kandinsky and Malevich, Variety said. The documentary was filmed on location in Moscow, St. Petersburg and London, with access to the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and the State Hermitage Museum, and in co-operation with the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Contributors include museum directors Mikhail Piotrovsky and Zelfira Tregulova, and film director Andrei Konchalovsky. The film also features Matthew Macfadyen, Tom Hollander, James Fleet, Eleanor Tomlinson and Daisy Bevan. It is produced by Foxtrot Films, which is owned by Kinmonth and producer Maureen Murray. Kinmonth said: “I was inspired as an artist to discover how many of the descendants of Russian Avant-Garde artists are themselves working as artists today. Access to their intensely moving stories brings to life this extraordinary period of artistic innovation, which continues to exert such a powerful legacy a hundred years on.” The acquisition follows Arts Alliance’s worldwide distribution of Kinmonth’s “Hermitage Revealed” in 2014, which saw the title shown in more than 30 territories. “Revolution — New Art for a New World” will be distributed in the U.K. by Arts Alliance’s sister company, Park Circus, with a theatrical release slated for late autumn, ahead of the 2017 centenary anniversary of the Russian Revolution. Foxtrot’s theatrical features include “Hermitage Revealed,” “Royal Paintbox,” with Charles, the Prince of Wales, “War Art” with Eddie Redmayne, “Looking for Lowry” with Ian McKellen, and “Mariinsky Theatre” with Maestro Valery Gergiev.
