Steve Wozniak “hopeful” Apple is working on VR

PanARMENIAN.Net - Steve Wozniak is 'hopeful' that Apple is working on VR, Digital Spy said.

The Apple co-founder was speaking at a conference in Lexington, KY where he received the Alltech Humanitarian Award. The speech saw him reveal his thoughts on both VR and AI.

After praising the Samsung Gear VR ("that one gets me emotional"), Wozniak explained that he believes VR will have a "big future" (via TechRepublic).

"It could die like 3D TV. But there will be a lot of games possible and that's enough to make the market work. Today the smartest electronic chips are made for video games," he expanded.

"When I was a child, the chips that could actually do something, they were only affordable for the government and the military. Now it's reversed, the military has to use the chips designed for video games because the scale makes it cheaper.

"I hope Apple is working on a VR that's advanced compared to the ones we're seeing."

Wozniak's favorite new tech item is the Samsung camera that takes a picture when you say "smile" and he also noted that he's a fan of Apple Pay on his Apple Watch.

As for artificial intelligence, it doesn't scare him. "If a computer is 100 times better than our brain, will it make the world perfect? Probably not, it will probably end up just like us, fighting," he said.

Meanwhile, ahead of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference next week, it is rumoured that the company are planning to announce an iMessage app for Android at the event.
