“Spotlight” producer boards thriller “Butterfly Garden”June 23, 2016 - 16:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Anonymous Content’s Michael Sugar, who won the best picture Oscar for “Spotlight”, is developing a movie based on Dot Hutchinson’s crime thriller “The Butterfly Garden”, Variety reports. Sugar will produce “The Butterfly Garden” with PalmStar Media’s Kevin Frakes. Ashley Zalta of Anonymous and PalmStar’s Mark Fasano will be executive producers. “The Butterfly Garden,” published June 1 by Thomas & Mercer, centers on a lush garden near an isolated mansion, where kidnapped young women are kept and intricately tattooed. Two FBI agents are tasked with piecing together the case interview one of the girls, who recounts her life in the Butterfly Garden and horrific tales of a man who would go to any length to hold beauty captive but leads the agents to believe that she’s also concealing secrets. Hutchison previously wrote “A Wounded Name” and is writing “Roses Of May” for publication next year. Sugar and Frakes previously collaborated on the Will Smith-Helen Mirren drama “Collateral Beauty,” due out in November from Warner Bros. Sugar is an executive producer on “The Knick.” Frakes’ producing credits include “American Ultra,” “Some Kind of Beautiful” and “The Whole Truth.” The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
