Legendary wins bidding war for Jennifer Lawrence’s “Bad Blood”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Legendary has won an auction for the movie project “Bad Blood” with Jennifer Lawrence attached to star, Variety reports.

“Bad Blood” will be written and directed by “The Big Short” director Adam McKay. Lawrence will play Elizabeth Holmes, founder of controversial blood testing company Theranos.

The value of Theranos has plunged following news that the company is under investigation for inaccurate testing. Holmes has continued to stand by Theranos.

Producers are McKay, Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick through their Gary Sanchez company, along with Lawrence. McKay and Charles Randolph won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar in February for “The Big Short.”

The package drew bids from several studios — including Paramount, which distributed “The Big Short” — and production companies. The deal includes movie rights to a book proposal about the Theranos controversy by John Carreyrou, who has reported on the company for the Wall Street Journal.

Universal will distribute the film through its deal with Legendary.

The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
