Owen Wilson to join Julia Roberts in “Wonder”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Owen Wilson is in negotiations to join Julia Roberts in Wonder, Lionsgate’s adaptation of the R.J. Palacio YA novel, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Jacob Tremblay, who had a breakout performance as the young star of Room opposite Brie Larson, will star in the film as Auggie Pullman, a young boy who was born with a facial deformity. For the first time, Auggie is going to a mainstream school, starting the fifth grade at Beecher Prep.

Wilson will play the boy’s father opposite Roberts, who is playing the mother.

Director Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) is helming from a script by Jack Thorne and Steve Conrad. Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman are producing via their Mandeville Films banner.

The book has been a massive best-seller since hitting stores in February 2012 via Knopf Books for Young Readers and has sold 2 million copies.

Wilson was last seen in Zoolander 2 and, in a change of pace, starred in the action movie No Escape with Pierce Brosnan. He has Masterminds, the ensemble comedy with Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig and Zach Galifianakis, waiting (and waiting) to be released, but the movie is mired in Relativity’s bankruptcy woes.
