“Harry Potter” star Tom Felton joins “The Flash” series

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Flash is adding a little magic for season three. Harry Potter alum Tom Felton has joined The CW's superhero drama in a series regular role, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Felton will play Julian Dorn, a fellow CSI at Central City Police Department who suspects there’s more to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) than just his good guy reputation. And seeing as how Barry currently moonlights as the Flash, Julian is definitely on to something big.

But what does this mean in light of the game-changing announcement that The Flash is tackling Flashpoint in season three? Last week, Gustin and showrunner Greg Berlanti revealed that the speculation regarding the series taking on the famous DC Comics storyline was all true. In the comics, the story of Flashpoint follows Barry as he wakes up in an alternate timeline where he has no powers, meaning the Flash does not exist in the new timeline, and his mother is alive. Barry later finds out in the story that he is actually at fault for changing history, since he went back in time to save his mother from the Reverse-Flash. And that's exactly what Barry did in the series: After losing his father (John Wesley Shipp) to Zoom (Teddy Sears), Barry decided he'd lost too much because of his choice to be a hero, and so he went back in time to save his mother Nora (Michelle Harrison).

While there isn't an already existing DC Comics counterpart for Julian Dorn, one assumption that could be made is that he is the new "Barry" in this Flashpoint timeline, taking into account all the changes that are coming in light of the timeline being altered. Who knows how much Barry's life has changed after his decision to go back in time, he might be replaced by Julian. Or could Felton actually be playing a Flashpoint character under a different moniker? No additional details are being released at this time, so answers will have to wait until the fall, The Hollywood Reporter said.

This isn't Felton's fist TV gig. After starring in all eight of the Harry Potter films as Draco Malfoy, the English actor also starred in the first season of TNT drama Murder in the First as well as Labyrinth and DirecTV’s Full Circle.

The Flash season three premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
