Samsung Gear VR 2 “set for August launch”July 8, 2016 - 15:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - While many of the Samsung rumours currently surround the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, another device is rumoured to be launched alongside it, Digital Spy reports. The preamble to the company's Galaxy Unpacked event on August 2 has focused almost exclusively on the branding for the phone, a potentially curved screen and the possibility of an iris scanner. It turns out, though, that the South Korean tech giant could be planning to bring the second generation of its Gear VR headset into the mix, too, Digital Spy said. The details of a Gear VR 2 are a little sketchy, but an Indian import database leak appears to suggest the device is upcoming. Import data for the SM-R323 (thought to be the model number for the headset) is listed on shipping site Zauba. It also refers to the Gear VR and details that the shipment is for testing purposes. While this isn't exactly concrete evidence, Dutch Samsung dedicator Galaxy Club speculates that the Note 7 will ship with a USB-C port, meaning a new headset (or at least, connector) would have to be made available for any VR fans acquiring the new phone, Digital Spy said.
