Channing Tatum’s “Gambit” to shoot in 2017, Simon Kinberg says

PanARMENIAN.Net - Channing Tatum’s planned “Gambit” movie is still in the cards, according to the film’s writer and producer Simon Kinberg, TheWrap said.

“We have a great script on that and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning or spring of next year,” Kinberg told Entertainment Weekly.

“Gambit” was originally supposed to be released in the fall of 2016, but Twentieth Century Fox bumped it from the schedule back in February. It does not currently have a new release date.

Its release date has been pushed at least twice, forcing the exit of original director Rupert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”). Doug Liman is now slated to lead the project. And Tatum reportedly nearly walked over salary issues.

Gambit is a fan favorite in the Marvel Universe. Gambit, whose real name is Remy LeBeau, is a reformed thief who joined up with the X-Men. He is known for his Cajun drawl and smooth-talking way with women.

His mutant ability allows to him charge objects with kinetic energy, thus making them explode on contact. His trademark weapon is a deck of playing cards, which he can throw with deadly accuracy.

Taylor Kitsch previously played the character in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
