Amanda Evans wraps Videovision’s psychological thriller “Serpent”

PanARMENIAN.Net - South African producer Anant Singh’s Videovision has wrapped principal photography on the suspense thriller “Serpent” with writer-director Amanda Evans making her feature debut with a script that was selected for the Berlinale Co-Production Market in 2012, Variety reports.

Pic stars Sarah Dumont (“Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse,” “Don Jon”) alongside her former “Royals” co-star Tom Ainsley (“Versailles”) as a married couple whose romantic retreat takes a perilous turn when they discover a deadly Black Mamba snake in their tent.

Singh calls “Serpent” a tense psychological thriller “in the style of ‘Buried’ and ‘Open Water.’ ” Of Evans, he says she “brings her exceptional skills and a woman’s perspective to a genre that is generally male-dominated.”

“Serpent” is an Enigma Pictures and Videovision Entertainment production in association with South Africa’s Dept. of Trade and Industry. Executive producers are Sudhir Pragjee, Sanjeev Singh, Robert Naidoo, Brian Cox and Dugald MacDonald. Pic is produced by Anant Singh, Greig Buckle and Amanda Evans.
