Liam Neeson comes to life in “A Monster Calls” trailer (video) July 14, 2016 - 16:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - In the first trailer for “A Monster Calls”, child actor Lewis MacDougall finds an unlikely friendship with Liam Neeson, TheWrap said. MacDougall plays 12-year-old Conor, who is being bullied at school by his cruel classmates all the while dealing with his mother’s serious illness. Luckily, Conor and his mom appear to have a close connection as he reminisces on the times she helped him with his drawings. The trailer pans to an image of one of the boy’s drawings which turns out to be a menacing-looking monster. The musical tone would lead one to believe that this will be a horror film, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In a time of need, Conor’s evil looking monster, voiced by Neeson, appears right outside his bedroom window — not to harm him, but to help. The monster takes Conor on a journey of courage, faith and truth. Felicity Jones will play Conor’s mother and Sigourney Weaver is cast as his unsympathetic grandmother. The fantasy drama is directed by J.A. Bayona, who is known for directing horror movies “The Orphanage” and “The Impossible.” “A Monster Calls” is based off a book by the same name penned by Patrick Ness. The film will be released by Focus Features and hit theaters Oct. 21. Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
