GoPro gives its first look at live virtual reality

PanARMENIAN.Net - The virtual realm has seen a number of advances in recent years, with live broadcasts the latest progression to be trialled by GoPro, Digital Spy said.

The company has released a video documenting the first testing of its LiveVR product, featuring retired MotoGP racer Randy Mamola, the first rider to ever use an on-board camera, and his son Dakota.

The latter is now the first to use a GoPro camera to capture a 360-degree experience of a motorcycle race.

LiveVR is a product of GoPro's Custom Solutions team, which builds modified versions of the GoPro Hero4 Black camera for various broadcasts.

Introduced at the NAB 2016 trade conference earlier this year, Custom Solutions embeds a Hero4 Black with a tethered camera, along with GoPro's HeroCast wireless HD micro transmitter.

With the company's Custom Solutions team also working with the National Hockey League and Professional Golfers' Association Tour, we could soon be able to virtually experience a range of live sports in 360 degrees, Digital Spy said.
