“Gotham” finds its Mad Hatter in “Walking Dead” villain

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Gotham" is adding former "The Walking Dead" villain as a series regular for its upcoming season 3. Benedict Samuel, who played Owen, the leader of the villainous gang the Wolves, in season 6 of the hit AMC show, has been cast as Jarvis Tech a.k.a. the Mad Hatter on the FOX series, AceShowbiz said.

The TV version of Jarvis Tech is described as a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness. He arrives in Gotham with an unwavering desire to find his sister, Alice, a young woman who went missing in the city years ago. It is anyone's guess just how far down the rabbit hole he's willing to go in order to find her.

In the comic books, the Mad Hatter is a scientist who uses his own mind-control technology to control the minds of his victims. He is sometimes portrayed as being severely mentally ill, with an underlying darkness to him. The character debuted in 1949's "Batman" #49.

Executive producer John Stephens once told Comic Book Resources that the Mad Hatter would come to "Gotham" in season 3 as early as May, but his first episode isn't announced yet.

The Mad Hatter is just one of new characters that will be featured in the third season that will kick off Monday, September 19 at 8/7c on FOX. Maggie Geha has been cast as an older version of Poison Ivy and Jamie Chung will star as reporter Valerie Vale. The Tweedle brothers and Bruce Wayne's long-haired doppelganger are expected to appear in the third season as well.
