“Game of Thrones” to return with shortened 7th season in summer 2017July 19, 2016 - 14:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "Game of Thrones" announces the return of the next seventh season. Compared to the previous seasons, the upcoming entry will have less episodes. Instead of the traditional 10 episodes, the HBO series will return only with seven episodes next year, AceShowbiz reports. On top of that, the new season which usually premiered in spring will not debut until summer 2017. This change makes the show which leads this year's nominations of the annual Primetime Emmy Awards will not be eligible for the 2017 Emmy nominations. "Now that winter has arrived on Game of Thrones, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing," Carter Bloys, president of HBO programming, said in a statement. "Instead of the show's traditional spring debut, we're moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule." The exact air date hasn't been announced, but the shortened episode count reportedly marks the beginning of the end of the series. Rumor has it, the TV show based on George R.R. Martin's novel will conclude after the eighth season. Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
