Yerevan Zoo hosts annual children’s competition Painting Day

PanARMENIAN.Net - On the initiative of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) and VivaCell-MTS, the annual Painting Day took place at Yerevan Zoo, with over 1500 children and youth aged 5 to 16 participating.

The Painting Day is held in the framework of the 9th Annual Pan-Armenian Painting Contest.

“Through these paintings, environmental issues become more vivid and have a sobering effect on us,” noted FPWC Founder Ruben Khachatryan.

“These images are a display of immense love and optimism. We have a strong belief that these are the preconditions for the success of our future “green” initiatives.”

“The Pan-Armenian Painting Contest is a call to humanity for the preservation of nature and environment,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.

“The way children see the environment is like the imaginative world of the fairy tales they love. They draw whatever they are dreaming of, and in their “dream world” nature is portrayed as a haven for people, animals and plants. Through these paintings the new generation raises issues of environmental degradation and threats to the entire world.”

On the Painting Day, the results of the 7th and 8th Pan-Armenian Painting Contests were summarized and prizes were handed to 24 participants.

The 9th Pan-Armenian Painting Contest awarding ceremony will be held in October on the sidelines of the SunChild International Environmental Film Festival.
