“American Crime Story” coming exclusively to Netflix in 2017

PanARMENIAN.Net - “American Crime Story” is coming to Netflixers around the world. FX and Netflix inked their first global streaming licensing deal that will put the first season, “The People v. O.J. Simpson”, on the streaming service in 2017, with subsequent seasons to follow after they’ve run on linear TV, Variety reports.

The seasons will be available everywhere Netflix is — including the U.S. — no doubt putting a decent chunk of change into the pockets of 21st Century Fox, which owns “ACS” producers Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

“We’re excited to evolve our relationship with Fox and to bring their lauded content to our members around the world,” said Sean Carey, Netflix’s vice president of global television. “Given the popularity of the first season of ‘American Crime Story,’ we are thrilled to offer this acclaimed drama series to our members.”

The first season of “ACS” did indeed prove quite popular in its TV run: It’s the most-watched new series on cable thus far this year, garnering an average seven-day audience of 7.5 million, with a 3.15 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. It also garnered a whopping 22 Emmy nominations.

Season 2 of “American Crime Story” will focus on Hurricane Katrina and premiere on FX in 2017.
