Facebook changing its News Feed once again

Facebook changing its News Feed once again

PanARMENIAN.Net - Facebook is changing the way its News Feed works, again. While often these changes can be in the form of betas, this network-wide refresher is being introduced to make the stories you see "more personally informative", Digital Spy said.

The idea is for the algorithm to create a system whereby the most relevant posts to you are introduced first, with this being determined through your interests and habits.

The company also has certain requirements for posts to qualify as "personally informative" for a user. First, it takes feedback from its News Feed quality surveys, where users rank posts based on how informative they are.

The company said in a blog post outlining the change: "Generally, we've found people find stories informative if they are related to their interests, if they engage people in broader discussions and if they contain news about the world around them."

Then, once certain posts are rated as more informative, they are factored into Facebook's predicting algorithm.

"We then combine this signal with how relevant the story might be to you personally - taking into account things like your relationship with the person or publisher that posted, or what you choose to click on, comment on or share - to best predict stories that you might personally find informative."

The move comes just a week after the social network introduced another big change to the Feed, one that aims to save users from clickbait.
