First look at Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in “Passengers”

PanARMENIAN.Net - The first official images of "Passengers (2016)" have arrived. The two stills which are released via Entertainment Weekly offer first look at Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt who star as the deep space travelers in the upcoming sci-fi film. Pratt's Jim Preston can be seen in his space suit while having conversation with Lawrence's Aurora Dunn, AceShowbiz reports.

Speaking to the site about Jon Spaiths's script, director Morten Tyldums says, "It's one of those stories that really grabs you and you fall in love with it. It's very smart and funny and clever and such a page turner I couldn't put it down. Every 10 pages, something new happens! At the same time it's a very intimate movie while taking place on this epic scale."

He continues, "For me, it's a story about what's important to live a full life. What are the things we need as humans? It's not afraid to entertain but at the same time it asks big questions about what does it mean to really feel happy. Every generation has its love story. I feel like this is it. I had to do it."

On working with the two superstars, the helmer says, "I honestly couldn't ask for a better cast. They're so great together, and both of them are so hard-working. They take the characters so seriously and bring so much to the roles with charm and intelligence and charisma. They really went for it and it is phenomenal to watch."

The upcoming film revolves around a spacecraft transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet that has a malfunction in one of its sleep chambers. As a result, a single passenger is awakened 90 years before anyone else. Faced with the prospect of growing old and dying alone, he eventually decides to wake up a second passenger, marking the beginning of what becomes a unique love story.

Lawrence and Pratt are joined by Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, Aurora Perrineau and Kimberly Battista in the cast. Produced by Stephen Hamel along with Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur and Michael Maher, the sci-fi romance hits U.S. theaters on December 21 this year.
