Samsung reveals Gear S3 smartwatch release date

PanARMENIAN.Net - With Samsung's launch of the Galaxy Note 7 now in the rear view mirror, the rumour mill has shifted its attention to the company's upcoming Gear S3 smartwatch, Digital Spy reports.

It appears the South Korean tech giant has no time for the internet's games, though, essentially revealing via Twitter when it will announce the next generation wearable.

Set for Wednesday, August 31, the big reveal will take place a day prior to Samsung's IFA press conference in Berlin. As the tweet shows, a blue watch face with a minute and hour hand is teased with the 'Talk about 3' tag line. The time also shows 6 o'clock, when the event is set to kick off in local time.

While the tweet leaves little to the imagination with regard to what Sammy has in store for August 31, what it will get up to a day later remains to be seen.

With rumours revealing that the company is set to launch three versions of its smartwatch — the Classic, Frontier and Explorer — this could mean the announcement is spread over the two IFA events.

Like with the Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this month, the launch of the Gear S3 will almost definitely be available to view through a dedicated stream on the company's website, Digital Spy said.
