New “Doctor Strange” photos feature Benedict Cumberbatch

PanARMENIAN.Net - New “Doctor Strange” photos show Benedict Cumberbatch training to become the next Sorcerer Supreme, TheWrap said.

Marvel released two images on Tuesday, August 16 — one shows Strange (Cumberbatch) sitting with the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). The other gives us a glimpse of his powers.

The film follows Dr. Stephen Strange, a brilliant but egotistical surgeon who travels the world to restore his skills after a car accident leaves him unable to operate.

During his travels, he meets the Ancient One, who teaches him the ways of magic in order to protect the Earth from a host of mystical foes.

The film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong and Benjamin Bratt. Scott Derrickson directs, with C. Robert Cargill and Jon Spaihts writing the screenplay. The movie is based on the character created by comic book artist-writer Steve Ditko.

Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Charles Newirth, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard and Louis D’Esposito serve as executive producers on the project, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing.

The film’s first trailer, released in April, received high fives from fans. However, a month later, the film faced criticism when fans protested Swinton’s casting in the role of a Tibetan character.

“Doctor Strange” will hit theaters on Nov. 4.
