Rai Com takes world sales on “These Days” ahead of Venice premiere

PanARMENIAN.Net - Italian pubcaster Rai’s Rai Com sales unit has taken world sales on Giuseppe Piccioni’s depiction of contemporary student life in the Italian provinces, “Questi giorni” (These Days), ahead of its world premiere in the Venice competition.

Piccioni was previously in Venice competition with 2001’s “Light of My Eyes,” which scooped double acting honors for Luigi Lo Cascio and Sandra Ceccarelli.

Rai Com is also handling international distribution on Gabriele Muccino’s San Francisco-set “Summertime,” which screened earlier in the fest to positive response.

In the run-up to Venice, Rai Com appointed a new sales exec, Cristina Cavaliere, who was formerly with French sales company Indie Sales.

Rai Com head of international sales Mattia Oddone said the company is continuing in its strategy to diversify its range of product, which spans from rights to digital theatrical releases of live Italian operas — a recent money-spinner for the company — to international documentaries, animation, and web content, besides Italian movies and TV series.

The TV series Rai Com is selling include Marco Tullio Giordana’s Mafia witness drama “Lea — Something About Me,” and Marco Pontecorvo’s immigrant crisis-themed mini-series “Lampedusa.”
