Ben Affleck turns into notorious gangster in “Live by Night” 1st trailer

PanARMENIAN.Net - Warner Bros. has debuted the first trailer for Ben Affleck's "Live by Night", the actor's directorial effort following the success of 2012's Oscar-winning "Argo". The trailer sees the 44-year-old actor portraying a soldier-turned-gangster named Joe Coughlin in the Prohibition era of the roaring '20s, AceShowbiz said.

"I signed up to fight in the war. I went away a solider. I came home an outlaw," Joe says in a voiceover. The two-and-a-half-minute video sees him engaging in a battle with police officers as well as other gangsters. There are also glimpses of the female characters who are portrayed by Zoe Saldana, Sienna Miller and Elle Fanning.

Based on Dennis Lehane's award-winning and best-selling novel, "Live by Night" follows Joe, a man who turned his back on his strict and proper upbringing and becomes an outlaw. He embarks on a dizzying journey up the ladder of organized crime that takes him from the flash of Jazz Age Boston to the sensual shimmer of Tampa's Latin Quarter to the sizzling streets of Cuba.

Also directed, written and produced by Affleck, "Live by Night" is set for a January 13, 2017 release in U.S. theaters. Brendan Gleeson and Scott Eastwood join the cast as Thomas and Danny Coughlin respectively. The upcoming crime drama is supported by Miguel, Chris Sullivan, Anthony Michael Hall, Chris Messina, Titus Welliver, Derek Mears and Max Cassela.
