Viacom18, Nickelodeon team for “Motu Patlu” animationSeptember 15, 2016 - 13:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - India’s Viacom18 Network is poised to enter the 3D stereoscopic animation theatrical space with “Motu Patlu King of Kings” directed by Suhas Kadav, Variety reports. Viacom18 divisions Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Nickelodeon, along with animation outfit Maya Digital Studios, produced the film. It is set for an October 14 rollout across 700 screens in India with Hindi and Tamil language versions. It will later be aired on Nickelodeon and on Viacom18’s digital platform Voot. Motu and Patlu are popular characters in the Indian children’s animation sector and are based on a comic strip published in Hindi magazine Lotpot. There have been 10 made-for-television films prior to the feature version. The film features a runaway circus lion, a lion king trying to protect his kingdom, a greedy poacher and Motu and Patlu involved in a battle to save the life of the jungle. Viacom18 is a joint venture between U.S. media conglomerate Viacom and India’s Network 18 Group. Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries holds a controlling stake in the Network 18 Group.
