Prince’s official tribute concert line-up announced

PanARMENIAN.Net - The official tribute concert for Prince has been announced at the late singer’s home state of Minnesota, NME reports.

The show on October 13 is at the 18,500-capacity Xcel Energy Center in St Paul, Minnesota, is being billed as an official tribute following Prince’s death in April.

It will be headlined by Stevie Wonder, with other acts including Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Christina Aguilera, Tori Kelly, Bilal, Anita Baker, Doug E Fresh, Mint Condition, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield.

Also on the bill are Morris Day And The Time, who played Prince’s rivals in his films Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge.

The bandleader for the concert is Morris Hayes, keyboardist with Prince’s old backing band New Power Generation, while Prince’s most recent band 3rdEyeGirl will be the in-house backing band.

Prince’s sister Shara Nelson said: “"The family is extremely excited to provide an opportunity for the world to participate in the tribute for our brother Prince.”

The singer’s friend L Londell McMillan added: “"Many fans and friends all over the world wanted to have the chance to honor, memorialize and celebrate this incredible man. We're thrilled we were able to make this happen."

Tickets for the concert go on sale on Monday (September 19) via Ticketmaster’s American website. A Twitter account, @Prntributeoct13, has been set up to give updates on the show.
