Austin Abrams joins Ben Stiller in “Brad’s Status” indie

PanARMENIAN.Net - Austin Abrams (“The Walking Dead”) will star opposite Ben Stiller in writer/director Mike White’s indie film “Brad’s Status,” Variety has learned exclusively.

“Brad’s Status” is produced by White, Dede Gardner and David Bernard in association with Plan B and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment. White is directing from his own script with Stiller portraying a father who contemplates what might have been on the roads not traveled in his own life while taking his son on a tour of colleges.

Abrams will play the role of Brad’s only son and the repository of his father’s hopes and dreams, whose academic and artistic talents make him a shoe-in at the best universities in the country, including Harvard.

Stiller came on board the project in January. Producers plans to shoot in Montreal and Massachusetts.

White’s feature credits include writing “School of Rock.” “The Good Girl” and “Nacho Libre” along writing and directing the comedy “Year of the Dog,” starring Molly Shannon and John C. Reilly. He starred with Laura Dern in HBO’s “Enlightened,” which he co-created, wrote and directed.

Abrams’ credits include “Paper Towns,” opposite Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne, as well as a recurring role on “The Walking Dead.” He began his career in “Gangster Squad” opposite Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn.
