PM scraps Urban Development Ministry, renames others

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Ministry of Urban Development will be scrapped, while those of Energy and Natural Resources, Transport and Communication, and Economy will be renamed, Minister-Chief of Armenian Government Staff Davit Harutyunyan said Thursday, September 22.

The Economy Ministry will from now on be called Ministry of Investment and Business Support.

Besides, the phrase Information Technologies will be added to the name of the Ministry of Transport and Communication, while that of Urban Development will be rearranged into a relevant committee.

According to Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, the state committee of water economy will be attached to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, as “there are a number of problems connected with water resources in Armenia.”

The aviation department will move to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, while the department of tourism will be separated from the Economy Ministry to be reorganized into a committee “to better tackle problems we are facing,” Karapetyan said.

A Committee of Architecture and Cultural Preservation will replace the Ministry of Urban Development.
