Google “looking to merge its Android and Chrome Operating Systems”

PanARMENIAN.Net - If you know your tech, you'll know that October 4 is shaping up to be a pretty big deal for tech-giant Google, Digital Spy said.

The company is known to be holding a media event in San Francisco on October 4, where a host of groundbreaking news about exciting new Google products is expected to be announced.

What products, you ask? Well how about Google's very own answer to the iPhone and a 4k Chromecast, for starters, Digital Spy said.

There are also rumours that the company will unveil a new smart speaker called Google Home – set to compete directly with Amazon Echo, as well as a hardware and software platform to help any Android phone manufacturer create a VR headset.

Oh, and a new 7-inch Android tablet tablet is also poised to be revealed, according to famed leaker Evan Blass, Digital Spy said.

While Google are trying to keep all information firmly under wraps until October, rumours about what we can expect from the company continues to sneak out regardless.

And the latest rumour to pre-empt the game-changing October 4 event is that the company is merging its Android and Chrome OS into one single OS.

So basically, your phone and your laptop would be operating on the exact same system and could share information and games, for example.

Android Police reports that Google is preparing to combine the two OSes into something codenamed Andromeda inside the company.

Chrome OS executive Hiroshi Lockheimer tweeted on Saturday (September 24) to confirm that October 4 will pretty much change the face of Android for ever.

"We announced the first version of Android eight years ago today," said Lockheimer.

"I have a feeling eight years from now we'll be talking about Oct 4, 2016."

While some Android apps is already available on some Chromebooks, combining Chrome OS and Android means Google can target even more devices with its mobile platform.

So basically, Google's October 4 is basically like Skynet's August 16 (a.k.a Judgement Day).
