Natalie Portman’s “Jackie” added to 2016 New York Film Fest lineup

PanARMENIAN.Net - “Jackie”, the biopic of Jacqueline Kennedy that picked up massive buzz at festivals in Venice and Toronto, has join the lineup of the 2016 New York Film Festival, where Pablo Larrain’s film will screen as a special U.S. premiere presentation, Variety said.

Centered around a lauded performance by Natalie Portman as the title character and written by Noah Oppenheim, “Jackie” has a cast that also includes Greta Gerwig, Peter Sarsgaard, John Hurt and Billy Crudup. The movie — which depicts events before, during and after the assassination of JFK — is Larrain’s first English-language film and the second of his movies set to the play NYFF this year; his Spanish-language film “Neruda,” about the Chilean poet, is part of the festival’s main slate.

“Jackie,” produced Juan de Dios Larrain, Darren Aronofsky, Mickey Liddell, Scott Franklin and Ari Handel, will screen at NYFF Oct. 13. Fox Searchlight releases the film Dec. 2.

Presented each year by Film Society of Lincoln Center, NYFF has notable premieres lined up including “13th,” the newly retitled documentary by Ava DuVernay, as well as “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk,” “The Lost City of Z” and “20th Century Women.” This year’s festival runs Sept. 30-Oct. 16.
