YouTube Go app lets you watch videos offline

PanARMENIAN.Net - YouTube can be a musical safe-haven whenever you feel like you've completed your Spotify or Apple Music playlists, with live versions and questionable covers available in their millions.

There's just one problem: without a stable internet connection, you're doomed to the sneering presence of the black screen and buffering wheel.

But listening to music on the train platform, or simply stocking up on all the funny cat videos you can handle before entering work, is about to get a hell of a lot easier.

Google has announced YouTube Go, a new app which will allow users to save videos for offline viewing, Digital Spy said.

Launched at the Google for India event in New Delhi — where the search engine giant also showcased its plans to bring public Wi-Fi to the world — the app will enable sharing and allow users to select the quality and file size of the video.

Indian users can sign up immediately to test YouTube Go, though unfortunately there's no hint at when we can expect the app around the world.

Like its Google Station plans, we imagine this will see acceleration after potential success and popularity in India, Digital Spy said.

And anticipation is growing for Google's big event next Tuesday (October 4) which will see the launch of the all-new Pixel handsets.

The firm is thought to be releasing a pair of handsets, a standard model and a slightly larger phone with a sharper display called the Pixel XL.
