Directed by Kim Jee-woon, the period espionage film was sold by Finecut to California Filmes for Latin America, to La Aventura for Spain and to Films4You for Portugal. Within the Asia-Pacific region it was picked up by Madman Entertainment of Australia and New Zealand, Edko Films for Hong Kong, Filmware International for Taiwan and by Viva Entertainment for The Philippines. The Asian distributors will rush it out. It will open in Hong Kong on Oct. 20, in New Zealand on Oct. 27, Australia on Nov. 3 and in Taiwan on Nov. 4. It had its premiere in the Venice and Toronto festivals and enjoyed a theatrical release in North America via CJ Entertainment. It scored $166,000 from 41 screens in its opening weekend, placing it 20th according to ComScore data. And it has been a smash hit on home turf. The first Korean-language production backed by Warner Bros., it has accumulated $51.1 million to date in three chart-topping weekends in Korean theaters.
