Passenger beats Shawn Mendes to the top of British charts

PanARMENIAN.Net - Shawn Mendes has missed out on the number one spot this week, as Passenger hits the top of the charts with Young As The Morning, Old As The Sea. Real name Mike Rosenberg, it's his first No.1 record, Digital Spy reports.

He sees off competition from Bruce Springsteen by 704 combined chart sales, with The Boss finishing at two with his compilation album Chapter and Verse.

Shawn Mendes scores his first Top 10 album with Illuminate at three as Marillion manage their first Top 10 in over a decade with F E A R, at 4, and last week's chart kings Bastille slip to five with Wild World.

"This is so unbelievably exciting!" Passenger told the Official Charts.

"When I saw that we were up against Springsteen and Shawn Mendes I basically wrote off any chance of getting Number 1 anywhere. It's a huge surprise and just the most amazing feeling! I think this is probably how Leicester fans felt last season."

The Weeknd's Beauty Behind The Madness makes a return to the Top 40 following the announcement of his new record, rockets 30 places to 37.

Finally, My Chemical Romance's anniversary boxset Black Parade/Living With Ghosts goes in at 11 while Warpaint's new album Heads Up makes an entry at 13.
