Sigourney Weaver officially joins the superhero series. The "Avatar" actress is tapped in a key role which is yet to be revealed, AceShowbiz reports. The announcement was made at the New York Comic-Con. Without going into specifics, Marvel TV's executive vice president Jeff Loeb said Weaver would portray the main baddie on the show. The actress made a surprise appearance at the end of the panel. The Defenders consists of Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Iron Fist. It is expected to follow "Iron Fist" which is due to premiere on Netflix next year. The streaming service is also developing a crossover series with "The Punisher" starring Jon Bernthal.
